Days after a report emerged from China, claiming that Foxconn boss Terry Gou had confirmed that Apple is working with Sharp to create an Apple television set, the company has denied the rumour.
The company provided a statement saying: “Any reports that Foxconn confirmed that it is preparing to produce a specific product for any customer are not accurate”.
“At no time did he confirm that Foxconn was in development or manufacturing stages for any product for any of its customers,” the company said in the statement sent to The Next Web.
“He did say that Foxconn is always prepared to meet the manufacturing needs of customers should they determine that they wish to work with Foxconn in the production of any of their products.”
China Daily’ original report stated that: “Gou said Foxconn is making preparations for iTV, Apple Inc’s rumoured upcoming high-definition television, although development or manufacturing has yet to begin.” The report claimed Gou had said that the ‘iTV’ will feature aluminium construction, the iPhone 4S’s Siri, and FaceTime.
