In an interview, Apple board member and CEO of J.Crew Mickey Drexler revealed that Steve Jobs wanted to design a car before he died.
We have the latest rumours about the Apple iCar here.
Speaking at Fast Company’s Innovation Uncensored conference, Drexler said that Apple’s late co-founder wanted to rethink the automotive industry.
“Look at the car industry; it’s a tragedy in America,” said Drexler. “Steve’s dream before he died was to design an iCar.”
“It would’ve been probably 50 per cent of the market,” said Drexler. “However, he never did design it.”
Drexler also hinted at the rumoured Apple television set: “You know, Apple has 10 products. The living room they’re dealing with at some point in the near future,” he revealed.
Drexler says that he wouldn’t like to be CEO at Apple. “The best job to have: Take over a company that’s doing poorly,” Drexler said, reminding us of Steve Jobs’ return to Apple as Interim CEO in 1997. “Never take over a company that’s doing great. You know, I love Tim Cook, but I wouldn’t want to do his job!”
In May, Drexler sold 40,000 Apple shares netting £14.6 million.
