Apple supplier Foxconn is investing $210 million (£133m) to build a new factory in China, which will house an Apple production line.
China Daily reports that the factory will be built in October, in east China’s Jiangsu province, according to the office of Taiwan Affairs of Huai’an city, where the plant will be located.
The factory will be 40,000 square meters, and will provide jobs for 35,800 employees. It has not yet been revealed which products the plant will manufacture.
Earlier this year, Apple was accused of ill-treating its workers in the Foxconn factories, resulting in investigations by the Fair Labour Association. Apple CEO Tim Cook visited the Foxconn production lines in March.
In February, Foxconn increased the wages for its workers and cut back overtime, but a journalist revealed that these changes could make matters worse for some factory employees.
