Apple has introduced its Volume Purchase Programs to nine new countries, allowing developers to sell their iOS apps in bulk to businesses and education outside the US for the first time.
Apple announced that its Volume Purchase Program for Business (VPP) and Custom B2B apps would be expanding to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, and the UK at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
On Wednesday, the VPP for business and Custom App pages on Apple’s website have gone live, as well as the VPP for Education.
The programs allow app makers to provide customers with apps for multiple employees, and also allows businesses to get custom B2B apps built by third-party developers.
Every paid app in the App Store is available for businesses to buy in bulk through the VPP website, at the same price listed in the standard App Store, but developers can introduce special pricing if they choose to.
Educational institutions can enrol in the VPP, and distribute multiple iOS app codes to students, teachers, or other employees. Developers can offer apps and eBooks at reduced prices when institutions buy 20 or more of the product.
