Following concerns that Apple will struggle to manufacture enough iPhones in the run up to Christmas, it has been claimed that Apple is extending its manufacturing capabilities for the iPhone by signing up another division of Hon Hai Precision (generally known as Foxconn).
Apple currently uses Hon Hai Precision subsidiary Foxconn Technology to build it’s iPhones, according to reports is it to sign up another subsidiary of the Hon Hai group known as Foxconn International Holdings.
Foxconn International Holdings is also owned by Hon Hai Precision but as yet hasn’t been involved in the manufacture of the iPhone. According to an analyst Apple is to sign up this subsidary, which previously worked with Nokia, Motorola and Sony.
Daiwa Capital Markets forecasts Foxconn International’s revenues will jump more than 30% on year in 2013 with the iPhone on board, reports MarketWatch.
Foxconn has a poor record with worker’s rights, a recent suicide at one of the Foxconn factories in China was caused by mistreatment, according to the victim’s family.
Foxconn workers blamed company security guards for recent unrest at a manufacturing facility in China, claiming that the mass riot was the result of an escalating brawl between assembly line workers and security guards.
