A new Steve Jobs figure has been revealed in Japan, which comes complete with a sofa, glasses, three pairs of hands, props and extremely detailed features.
Tokyo-based startup Legend Toys unveiled its 12in figure of Apple’s late co-founder, sculpted by Takao Kato, on its website. The figure, aptly named ‘Steve mini’ is made at 1:6 scale, and is set to start shipping at the end of December for $199.99 (£122) to the US and at a cheaper price in Japan.
This is not the first Steve Jobs toy to emerge from Asian toy makers. In January this year, Hong Kong company In Icons was forced to take its Steve Jobs doll off the shelves by Apple and Jobs’ family.
Before In Icons, other Steve Jobs dolls were banned, including the M.I.C Gadget figure in 2010.
The maker of the latest Steve Jobs doll, however, doesn’t seem to be worried about previous bans.
“We have heard that Apple tried to stop several companies from selling Steve Jobs figures,” said Legend Toy’s Yuichi Kimura. “We do not have any permission from anyone and we don’t think it’s necessary to obtain permission from anyone.”
“Just like millions of people around the world, I was moved by Jobs’ passion and creativity,” Kimura continued. “He said that he loved to do things he could do best. So do I, and the best thing I can do is make a lifelike figure to remember him and I also wanted to share my passion with all his fans like he did with those I-products. This is my pure and simple intention.”
