In an auction hosted on the site Charitybuzz, Tim Cook has offered bidders the chance to sit down for a coffee at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.
All proceeds of the auction will go to The RFK Centre for Justice and Human Rights, and in return, you’ll get up to an hour for a chat with the main man behind Apple.
The listing has an estimated worth of $50,000, and went from $5,250 to $100,000 in no time at all.
A statement on Charitybuzz reveals that Apple will be expecting: “polite manners and respect for the generous donor,” and the winner will also be subjected to a security screening.
The auction currently has 20 days left, but the bid does not include travel expenses and accommodation.
Although the auctioneers remain anonymous, Macrumors has suggested some possible identities of the top contenders. These include Larry O’Connor, the founder and CEO of Other World Computing, as well as Rory O’Neil, Vice president of Product and Channel Marketing at Blackberry.
It should certainly help to raise Tim Cook’s image in the public; the Apple CEO was the recent victim of a “whisper campaign” which aimed to blame Cook for the plummeting share prices of Apple.
Douglas Kass, an investment manager, went as far as to Tweet: “Is Apple’s Tim Cook…Cooked?”
Kass is not alone in his suggestion that Apple should cut ties with Cook, as Dell, Microsoft and HP consultant Rob Enderle wrote earlier this month: “Cook never had the skills needed to run Apple but that isn’t the core of the problem because it was the Apple board that appointed Cook and keeps him on the job, as they haven’t replaced or supplemented him with someone more qualified.”
