Expect a slimmer, improved Retina MacBook Pro and a tweaked MacBook Air at WWDC 2013, an analyst has said.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a strong track record when it comes to predicting Apple product launches, expects that WWDC will see the introduction of a slimmer Retina MacBook Pro with camera improvements, alongside a new MacBook Air with some spec tweaks.
In a note to investors, Kuo said that a slimmed-down 13in model of the MacBook Pro with Retina display will be unveiled at Apple’s WWDC 2013 keynote on 10 June.
In addition to the visible design changes, the new Retina MacBook Pro could also boast a ‘Full HD’ 1080p FaceTime HD camera.
Apple’s MacBook Air could get an update too, with tweaks expected to include a dual-microphone setup.
Both the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina Display models are likely to run on Intel’s new Haswell processors, says the analyst.
As for the non-Retina MacBook Pros, Kuo thinks that they will not be receiving a Haswell update. “While we expect Apple to continue retailing Ivy Bridge-supported MacBook Pro, this product line will likely be withdrawn from the spotlight going forward,” Kuo said.
