How do I change the name of my Apple Watch? I’ve got two watches and they both appear under the same name on my iPhone. I need to rename one of them.
How to rename your Apple Watch: In brief
Here’s how to rename your Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on the paired iPhone.
- Make sure you’re in the My Watch tab (tap the icon bottom left).
- Go to General > About.
- Tap Name, then type in your new name.
- Tap Done.
It’s as easy as that! We’ll outline the process in slightly more detail below, but you should be good to go.

How to rename your Apple Watch: In depth
Like a lot of these things, renaming your Apple Watch is easy once you know how. It’s just that the option to do so appears in a slightly unexpected place. When you view your paired Apple Watch in the Watch app on your iPhone, you’d expect to be able to tap the name and then edit it, or force-touch it and edit it, but neither of these things works. Instead, you edit the name through the About section of the watch settings.
Open the Watch app on the paired iPhone.
Make sure you’re in the My Watch tab. Check the My Watch icon at the bottom left – it should be orange. if it isn’t, tap it.
Tap General, and then About.
The name of the watch is listed at the top of the screen. Tap the name. Delete the old name letter by letter, or tap the X to delete it all, then type in your new name. Hit Done.
