The iPhone XS features an amazing camera capable of recording crisp, detailed 4K@60fps video perfect for sharing with friends and family on social media – but the process of sharing videos you’ve shot isn’t as easy as you might first expect. Most social networks have video constraints, whether that be a capped video length, specific aspect ratio support, or letterboxing issues.
Thankfully, there are apps for Mac and PC that make processing your iPhone videos an easy job. While there is no shortage of apps that offer video editing capabilities, VideoProc stands out from the crowd with an easy-to-use, powerful app that boasts a range of unique features.
The headline feature of the tool is that it’s the first, and only, software that offers Level-3 Hardware Acceleration tech. In layman’s terms, it essentially means that VideoProc offers impressive performance enhancements when editing and converting compared to other leading video editors, allowing you to resize on almost any Mac running OS X 10.6 or later.
VideoProc provides a simple way not only shrink the size of huge 4K videos shot on iPhone, GoPro, DJI, or other mirrorless and DSLR digital cameras but convert the file format to the more popular, compressed MP4 HEVC with very little degradation of quality.
It’s a long way from the lossy, compressed videos produced by other apps, with VideoProc’s success down to a range of unique tech including an advanced De-Interlace accelerator and an Intelligent A/V synchroniser.
How to use VideoProc to resize an iPhone video
The good news is that resizing a 4K video using VideoProc is a straightforward process. Simply reduce the size of the video by following these simple steps:
- Open VideoProc and select Video.
- Drag-and-drop your video file into VideoProc.
- Once processed, you’ll see a breakdown of your video including current resolution, codec and more. The left represents the video in its current form, and the right provides an overview of the new video file with updated codecs, timing, etc.
- You can shorten video length to reduce its size by clicking the cut icon to access the Edit window. Drag the green knob to select a segment you’d like to use. Alternatively, click the scissor-shaped cut icon to set the Start time and End time.
- You can also adjust the resolution (from 4K to 1080p) or adjust frame rate from 60- to 30fps, all from the same Edit window.
- Under the Target Format menu at the bottom of the page, select MP4 HEVC. This will convert your video using the H.265 codec that not only reduces the overall size of your video, but also keeps same apparent visual quality.
- Click Run to process your 4K video. You’ll see a pop-up window displaying the progress of the process, and once it’s complete, it’ll open your newly converted video in a File Finder window.
And that’s it! Take the newly processed 4K video and upload it to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and any other site to share with friends and family.
That’s not all you can do in VideoProc though; as well as converting the file type and compressing the video, you can trim the length, stabilise shaky videos, remove the fish-eye effect provided by some wide-angle lenses and more. Most tools are stored in the Toolbox section of the app, so take a look for a complete list of video processing tools at your disposal.
Where can I download VideoProc?
If you’re interested in taking VideoProc for a spin, the good news is that you download the software on your Mac or PC completely free of charge.
Once you fire up the video processing software you’ll be prompted to either buy a license for the app, or use it in trial mode. Of course, trial mode is a more limited version of the app with a 5-minute limit, but with a lifetime upgrade available for only $43.95 (around £33 in the UK), we think it’s well worth a purchase – especially with all the unique advanced video processing tools on offer.
