Apple took to the stage at the Steve Jobs Theatre in September to confirm key details about its upcoming subscription services including Apple Arcade, a service that’ll provide iOS, Apple TV and Mac owners with a library of over 100 exclusive games to download on their devices. Unlike the recently revealed Google Stadia, Apple’s subscription service isn’t streaming-based – you pay your £4.99/$4.99 monthly fee and get access to a library of games available to download and play via the App Store, no high-speed internet connection required.
The calibre of games coming to the service is high; there won’t be any freemium apps, or any apps with huge IAPs available as part of the service, and with studios like Bossa, Konami, Capcom, LEGO and Ustwo creating games specifically for the platform, it should provide great value to dedicated and casual iOS gamers alike.
