Apple’s HomePod had a permanent price drop in 2019 – £279, down from £319 – making the high-end Siri-enabled smart speaker a little more affordable in a world filled with cheap Alexa- and Google Assistant-powered devices. While that was welcomed by Apple fans, a limited-time Black Friday deal from John Lewis takes it a step further, offering the HomePod for £229 – £50 off the £279 RRP.
The John Lewis deal is the cheapest we’ve seen a brand new HomePod this Black Friday shopping season, beating the price of a refurbished HomePod from the
Apple Refurb Store at £239. If you’ve been waiting for the price of the HomePod to drop, now is the best time to invest.
John Lewis is a great store to buy tech from because the retailer offers an extended two-year warranty free of charge. Not even Apple offers a standard two-year warranty on its range of products – you’ll have to pay a little extra for that.
Apple’s HomePod offers a high-end audio experience when compared to other smart speakers on the market, utilising Apple’s A8 chip to intelligently analyse the environment and adjust audio output accordingly.
The bass is powerful and vocals are crisp, offering full integration with Apple Music and AirPlay 2 for multi-room playback, although we do note in our
HomePod review that Siri is lacking compared not only to the competing smart assistants, but the capabilities of Siri on iPhones, iPads and Macs too.
