Tech leaker and Twitter user Ice Universe claims that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max models will both feature screens with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz for a smoother user experience.
MacRumors notes that Ice Universe doesn’t usually comment on Apple’s products, but historically is a reliable leaker when it comes to Samsung products. Samsung has previously assisted with OLED screens for iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone 11.
In conjunction with the release of the iOS 14 beta, developers have also noticed that there are now new settings for the number of frames per second that the mobile is capable of, adding support to the 120Hz theory.
Back in May, two high-profile leakers disclosed extensive spec details for the iPhone 12. One claimed that the 12 Pro and Pro Max would get 120Hz ProMotion screens, but Jon Prosser sounded a note of caution, saying ProMotion “may be nerfed in software”.
