If you’ve got an Apple Watch Series 1 or later, you can now download the free software update watchOS 6.2.8. This is an unusually interesting point update because owners of the Apple Watch Series 5 can look forward to supporting digital car keys – although you’ll also need a brand-new BMW (manufactured since 1 July 2020) for it to work.
Otherwise, the focus is on bug and security fixes, so even those of us who aren’t lucky enough to own a compatible vehicle would be wise to install the update as soon as possible.
To install the new version, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, locate the My Clock tab, and then go to General and select Software Update. If you’re running watchOS 6.0 or later, you can also use the built-in software update.
