Recently, images have appeared on the internet supposedly revealing various components for the iPhone 12, including the screen and the motherboard. These are interesting from a technical point of view, but it’s often hard to see what you’re looking at.
But now EverythingApplePro has posted a video on Twitter showing the cover of the iPhone 12 Pro, and this gives us a much better idea of what the device is going to look and feel like in the hand. The clip appears to strengthen previous rumours that the iPhone 12 handsets will have flat edges, built-in magnets and a Smart Connector for accessories such as keyboards. The design also indicates that we will see support for 5G (although we still don’t know which models will get the mmWave version) and a LiDAR scanner.
Here it is! Official iPhone 12 Pro chassis leak. Confirms mostly same camera with new LiDAR placement, flat sides, magnet cutouts & smart connector-like 5G antenna? This seems to confirm the 6.1 Pro model will get LiDAR too. October can’t come soon enough. pic.twitter.com/YifSX7SWxh

Tomorrow (15 September), Apple is holding a special virtual event, and it’s theoretically possible we’ll get our first official glimpse of the iPhone 12 on the night. However, it’s more likely that the company will wait until next month for the iPhone update, having faced component shortages as a result of the ongoing pandemic, and instead announce the Apple Watch Series 6 and a new iPad Air.
