This spring, Apple launched the second-gen iPhone SE, a budget model that replaced (and replicated the physical design of) the old faithful iPhone 8.
By all accounts the updated SE has been a hit, and Apple watchers have naturally assumed that a follow-up would appear around a year later, in the first half of 2021. But according to a new report from the extremely well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (quoted by 9to5Mac), it will probably take until next autumn before the third-gen SE becomes a reality.
As for the differences between the 2020 and 2021 iPhone SE models, it’s plausible that the new version will be slightly larger, with a 5.5in or 6.1in LCD screen. If that proves to be the case, you can bet on the phone being branded as iPhone SE Plus.
The new SE is also expected to have slimmed-down bezels and an A14 processor.

(Update: as of March 2021 Kuo is suggesting that the iPhone SE will be delayed until 2022)
