macOS 12 will probably be presented for the first time at WWDC 2021. We have a separate round up of the possible features coming in macOS 12.
Why the new system will be called macOS 12
One can safely assume that Apple switched to a completely new numbering system with Big Sur – similar to the numbering on iOS. Instead of putting a cumbersome “MacOS Ten” in front of it and referring to macOS 10.13.0 High Sierra or macOS Catalina 10.15.1, as has been the case for years, the version number will probably be numbered more simply and macOS 11 will be followed by macOS 12.
Which name will be chosen for the system has probably not yet been determined but it is likely to take inspiration from a Californian landmark.
