According to a new report from Barclays, quoted by MacRumors, Apple will add support for the new wireless standard Wi-Fi 6E in this autumn’s updated iPhone models.
Wi-Fi 6E adds support for the 6GHz radio band to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands supported by plain Wi-Fi 6 and older standards. This should increase bandwidth and reduce the risk of interference.
As well as Apple, Samsung is also expected to provide support for Wi-Fi 6E this year, which is good news for chip manufacturers such as Broadcom and Skyworks.
To use the 6GHz band, of course, a compatible router is required. The first out was the Netgear Nighthawk RAXE500, which was launched a few weeks ago.
