Apple has confirmed that the
iMac Pro will disappear from the range as soon as current stock has sold out.
Those who want a powerful all-in-one computer will in the future be referred to the
27in iMac model that was launched in August. By customising the components using build-to-order options, it’s possible to come up with similar specifications to the iMac Pro.
Unfortunately, the 27in iMac is
not available in Space Grey, but we all have to make sacrifices.
On 6 March we reported that the iMac Pro was being sold on the Apple Store with an unusual note indicating that it would be available as long as stock lasts, and that options to increase memory or storage space had disappeared. Both developments appeared to indicate that the iMac Pro was either
on the way out or about to be upgraded – and now we know that it’s the former.
Last week we also reported on the
unavailability of certain iMac models. In that case it seems much more likely that
new iMacs are on the way.
