If you use the popular VPN service NordVPN, you’ll be interested to hear that an important update was recently released for the software.
The big news in version 6.6.1 of NordVPN is the addition of full support for Macs based on the M1 chip – in other words, for the latest models of MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini and iMac.
The software has now been optimised for the new computers, which means significantly faster performance than before. But it also works on Intel machines, and there is a single version for both.
“The NordVPN app for macOS is universal,” the developers write, “meaning it can run natively on both architectures and there are no extra steps besides a regular update you need to take to continue enjoying the top-notch performance.”

NordVPN is one of the most popular and highly rated VPN services around. In our NordVPN for Mac review we awarded the software 4 stars out of 5 and complimented its ease of use, impressive WireGuard speeds and plentiful servers.
But it’s not quite our top pick. In our roundup of the best Mac VPNs, Nord landed in a very creditable second place, pipped to the top spot by Surfshark. Our reviewer did, however, note that NordVPN had the most features of the various software options we looked at.
