According to a new report to investors from the widely respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, seen by MacRumors, Apple will launch the second-gen AirPods Pro in the fourth quarter of 2022, not the third quarter as previously rumoured.
It’s possible that Apple had actually planned an earlier launch before the summer, but has been forced to postpone due to the component shortages that have plagued the entire electronics industry and have caused supply problems for the iPhone 13, among other products.
Kuo has previously predicted that the updated premium earbuds will have a completely new design, somewhat similar to that of the Beats Fit Pro. Other rumoured details about the new headphones include the addition of an upgraded communication chip and built-in health sensors.
Kuo is by no means infallible, with an accuracy rating of 75.9% on AppleTrack at time of writing, but the analyst’s pronouncements carry enormous weight in the Apple pundit community.
